He Feeds the Birds and Clothes the Flowers

The name "Jehovah Jireh" literally means "God will provide." How amazing is that to know that one of our Father's names is the God who will provide. There's a song by Maverick City called "Jireh," and if you haven't already heard it, I recommend that you do! This song literally quotes scriptures in Matthew, Luke, and Ephesians. There's a verse that says, "If he dresses the lilies with beauty and splendor, how much more will he clothe you, if he watches over every sparrow, how much more will he love you."

Matthew 6:25 says, "That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn't life more than food and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don't plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren't you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? The sparrows don't even worry about their next meal because God is constantly providing for them. It's true. A few days ago, I was at the park with a few people. One person had mentioned the birds are never worried if they will get food…just as they had said that a bird came right next to us and started picking at a piece of bread that was on the floor. How much more does God love you? He provides for the birds in the sky and cares for the flowers on the ground….so why wouldn't he do that much more for you?

Luke 12:27-28 says, "Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don't work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?" I've had moments where I thought God forgot about me but was caring for everyone else. He tells us, "Why do you have so little faith?" We need to have confidence in our Father because he isJehovah Jireh…"The God Who Will Provide."God will supply you with all that you need when you need it. It may not be what you had in mind, but it's what God says is best for you at the moment or the season you may be in. Sometimes we think that we have to figure everything out on our own, and truth be told, because I've been there…it is STRESSFUL sometimes. It can become draining and tiresome trying to figure out X, Y, Z. God is telling you and me today, "Let me carry that load for you. Let me figure out the hard stuff and rest in the peace that only comes from me, just the way the birds of the sky and the flowers on the ground do. I have you in the palm of my hand, and I won't let you go. Let me take care of you."

Ask God, "How Much More Do You Love Me?" and he'll tell you. How much more? More than you can ask, think or imagine.
